Look for one that says “package installer” that’s what you’ll need in order to install apps. Download and unzip the hack from here.I feel comfortable in suggesting that you try it and it looks relatively foolproof. This might be due to the space limitations I’m told there’s a limit on how much space the T1 will provide for apps. I could download it from Amazon but I couldn’t install it. I also tried Angry Birds (just because it’s there). The T1’s page turn buttons don’t work with the Kindle app, but the rest of the app works just like it should (bookmarks, highlights, etc).

I’ve sent several ebooks to the T1 and I even downloaded a library book. The app turns the page a little slower than my K4, but it does run. I now have the Kindle Android app running on my PRS-T1, and I got it from the Amazon Appstore. If there’s an app you’d like me to try, please ask. All it has at the moment is ADW Launcher, CoolReader, Dropbox, as well as a few things that we can’t use (phone, camera, etc). The hack doesn’t come with much (but now that I can install apps that ‘s no longer a problem). I’ve installed various versions of the hack 3 or 4 times this weekend and all the installs went off without a hitch.

It’s been just over a week since the first proof of concept video, and I’d say that we now have a hack that’s finally ready for the end user. Most importantly, the update finally let me install new apps. Last night the developer released a new version of the hack which added a bunch of new functionality. In case you were wondering, pagination or paging is the process of dividing a document into discrete pages. It looks like I jumped the gun yesterday when I announced a new hack for the Sony Reader. This type of file format is mostly used by small and open-source publishers because it can contain complex graphics and pagination. The PDF file format isn’t reserved just for documents and essays. PDF – well-known document format for many purposes For example, both MOBI and PRC file formats Kindle can read if they don’t contain DRM protection and both can store JavaScript information.Īnother “big” thing about this file format is that it can be embedded in PDF and other similar file formats to represent 3D visualization and exchange. Usually, it goes hand to hand with MOBI file extension when it comes to main features. Product Representation Compact, known as PRC, is another answer to the “what file format does Kindle use” question. And it no wonders because it is a proprietary format exclusively used on all Kindle devices. Most of the famous Kindle formats are based on MOBI. MOBI is also very lightweight, plus, it supports DRM copyright protection to prevent illegal viewing.
